Ghana Excursion Itinerary

  • Experience the best of what Accra has to offer in just one day with this private tour, including taking in the sights of Independence Square and the Jamestown Lighthouse, shopping for unique handicrafts at the Centre for National Culture (Art Centre), and learning about the Pan-Africanism movement at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre.

  • Travelers will get a unique look at everyday traditions and commerce in the bustling town of Bonwire, home to Ghana’s world-famous Kente cloth. Kente cloth is often worn by kings, queens, chiefs, presidents, and everyday people on special occasions, such as traditional Ghanaian marriage ceremonies. Ghanaians and tourists alike love visiting Bonwire to learn how this authentic cloth is made.

  • Adventure awaits aboard the Dodi Princess II! Groove to the sounds of a live band, savor delicious food and cocktails, and enjoy the laid-back cruise to Dodi Island where nature, fun, and optional camel rides collide!

  • When we say, “Going back to give back” we mean it! We’ll spread lots of love and joy at a local orphanage by donating what we can. Each traveler is asked to fill their second suitcase with school supplies, hair clippers, shoes, clothes, feminine and other hygiene products, and anything else they may have in abundance. These items can bring immense joy to their recipients!

  • Get ready to be wowed by Ghana’s highly celebrated Wala Afo Drum & Dance Ensemble during a traditional African drumming presentation and drumming lessons.

  • Travelers will visit the infamous Elmina Castle, which was erected by the Portuguese in 1482 as Castelo de São Jorge da Mina, aka Castelo da Mina, or simply Mina in present-day Elmina, Ghana. It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea and is the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara.

  • Catch a rare glimpse of forest elephants, monkeys, parrots, hornbills, and butterflies, among other rare animal species indigenous to Ghana and greater Africa at the beautiful Kakuma National Park. The park’s canopy walkway suspends nearly 100 feet above the forest floor, providing treetop views of forest. It’s where nature and humankind truly become one!

  • Built in 1954, the original Kumasi Central Hospital was later named Komfo Anokye Hospital after Okomfo Anokye, a legendary fetish priest of the Ashanti. It is said that Anokye placed an unmovable sword in the middle of the Ashanti empire, and many have tried and failed to remove it. In 1996, the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site was built around the sword on the grounds of the hospital.

  • The Manhyia, translated from the Akan language as “gathering of the towns” or “people's palace,” is a must-see for travelers. The seat, or throne, of the Asantehene (The Ashanti King) resides here. The palace is one of the highest cultural and historical structures in Ghana. Built in 1925 by the British after the third Anglo-Ashanti war in 1874, this architectural marvel has a rich history, providing historical insight into the cultural legacy prior to Great Britain’s colonization of the country. It primarily serves to communicate the richness of Ghana’s history and culture for future generations.

*This is an overnight trip. The hotel stay is included in your travel package and the rooms will be a two-person occupancy.

  • Nightlife activities abound in Ghana - from clubs and pubs, to live bands and night beaches! Let your freshly braided hair down and enjoy true and authentic African rhythms and cultural experiences. At least one VIP nightlife experience is included in your package.
